Saeed Torabian, the head of the public relations of the Tehran and Municipality Vahed Bus Workers Syndicate, was arrested on June 9. Torabian was arrested at 9:00 a.m. by four ministry of intelligence operatives at his home in Karaj. His house went through a long search and several of his personal items including his and his wife’s cell phone and computer were taken.
Saed Torabian, 40 years old, has a 13 year employment experience with Vahed and was arrested during the 2005 stirkes and held for more than two months. He was also suspended for four years from his job.
No reasons for his arrest have been given. The arrest is suspected to be due to the condemnation of the May 9 executions in Iran by the Vahed Bus Workers Syndicate and creating an atmosphere of fear close to the anniversary of the election unrests in Iran.
